What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a powerful self-healing modality that uses conscious, intentional breathing to support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. It is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries in Eastern traditions like yoga, tai chi and Buddhism. In recent years, breathwork has become more prominent in Western society.

Breathwork supports nervous system relaxation and allows us to access a deeper state of consciousness. Through intentional breathing, we allow ourselves to come back to a place of peace within our bodies. Other benefits of breathwork include reduced stress and anxiety, improved sleep, increased self-awareness, and emotional healing and release.

My Approach

My approach to breathwork is trauma-informed, strength-based and grounded in self-compassion. Each of my breathwork sessions are tailored to support the needs of my clients, and I often incorporate gentle energetic (Reiki) healing and somatic practices into my sessions. 

At the beginning of the session, we will discuss your intention and choose a breath pattern. My approach is collaborative, and I trust and honour the pace, intensity, and type of breath that feels right for you. I will invite you to lie down for the practice as I guide you through a meditative journey. I will select a playlist that reflects your intention, and I often curate playlists for clients that are based on the information they share with me in their intake forms. (If you don’t have an intention you’d like to share with me when you book, no problem! I have a whole library of playlists that cater to most intentions.) We will leave a few minutes at the end of the session to ground and integrate any shifts that have happened.

This 1:1 virtual guided breathwork journey is based on your intention for the session. In addition to a personalized breath practice, this session might include a combination of visualization, somatic and mindfulness practices, as well as some gentle energetic healing.

This offering involves a 10-minute call where we will discuss your intention so I can create a personalized recording that is tailored to your needs. You will receive the recording by email within 24 hours of our call.

  • Absolutely. While I specialize in supporting women and non-binary people who have experienced sexual trauma, I believe that breathwork is a powerful modality that can support everyone. If you feel called to work with me, please do not hesitate to reach out or book a session.

  • I hear you. The first time I tried breathwork, I didn’t know what to expect. If you are curious about breathwork and would potentially like to work with me, I invite you to book a free discovery call where we can have a conversation about whether a breathwork session would be supportive for you.

  • If you are currently pregnant or postpartum, active breathwork is not advised. I offer pregnant clients a relaxing guided meditation session which might include visualization and some gentle breath awareness (noticing the breath entering and leaving the body without adding any force). Physician approval is required before we work together.

  • Your safety is my number one priority. Every client that works with me must fill out an intake form that includes a list of medical conditions that require physician approval before we can work together. If you have a medical condition that is not listed, physician approval is still advised.

  • Sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 24 hours in advance at no charge. After that time, a 50% cancellation/rebooking fee will apply.
